Fitriani Revanda’s animated short Little Hiccups is a joy to watch, a genuinely funny piece about the struggles of modern life when living with a menagerie of little monsters. This short film’s minimalistic yet elegant animation style is perfectly suited for the film’s tone and each of the little critters is teaming with personality, capitalising on the natural human inclination to read human emotion into everything vaguely anthropomorphic. The background ragtime music is also a perfect accompaniment to the silly, slapstick comedy, elevating it only further. Little Hiccups is fun, pure, and simple, and in an industry sometimes oversaturated with heavy, heady films, it’s nice to have a change in pace once in a while, especially one of this quality.

From beginning to end, entirely and completely delightful. This film is such a romp. Every scene is so cheeky and quirky in how it plays with the idea that all of the little daily inconveniences are actually creatures and gremlins hell-bent on ruining your day is just so fun! Aside from the film’s adorable monsters and wildly imaginative scenarios, the animation is just so cutesy, it perfectly matches the tone and is so perfectly evocative and relatable. I could not imagine someone not having the most fun with this!
